Astakós in Aitoloakarnania (West Greece) with it's 2,569 habitants is located in Greece about 148 mi (or 238 km) west of Athens, the country's capital town. Mytikas which is a seaside village on the western side of the prefecture of Aitoloakarnania is so named because it lies on a pointed prominence of the land to the sea and according to the 2001 data it has 774 inhabitants. In the antiquity, the city of Alyzia was nearby. The presence of a Roman building on the cape could be attributed to a Roman settlement or a farmhouse of the imperial times. It is a popular summer destination and is a point of connection with the island of Kalamos, which is very close by. It belongs to the municipality of Xiromerou, one of the most preferred budget-friendly locations for summer vacation. The people of Mytikas are known to be very friendly and hospitable.
